- We are justified by faith aside from works (vv. 1-5)
- “But not before God…” Even if this were true that Abraham was justified by his works, God is unimpressed

- “Counted” – means to credit one’s account and to treat them accordingly
- Three great results that become ours when we trust Jesus for salvation

- Salvation is only found in Jesus
- Salvation has never been what we do, it has always been about who’s we are
- We are justified by faith apart from the law (vv. 13-17)
- If the promises of God are given out on a merit basis, then faith has no place in our lives
- If salvation happens by by keeping the Law, then we do not need the promises of God
- The demands of the Law are impossible for us to keep
- Salvation comes about by the grace of God
- If salvation is produced by keeping the law, then no one can ever be sure that they are really saved
- Salvation is for all people, from every walk of life, in any situation and circumstance
- We are justified by faith apart for our own personal ability (vv. 18-25)
- Abraham believed God when he received the promise and he kept on believing until the promise was fulfilled
- Abraham believed, without reservation that God would keep his word
- Abraham obtained that promise because he responded with an attitude of faith
- Abraham did not look for reasons to doubt God
