Read Romans 15 at least twice during the week and meditate on it.
1. What is Paul asking each of us to do in verses 1-2? Why?
2. Why is it so difficult to put others before ourselves? In well do you succeed in this area?
3. According to verse 3, who can we follow in putting others first?
4. What will be the result of thinking of others needs before our own? (See verses 4-6)
5. What direct command does Paul give us in verse 7 and who are we emulating by obeying this command?
6. What will be the result of living out Paul’s command? (See verse 13)
Personal Application
Applying these main points to our lives:
1. Think for a minute about ways you could seek the good of the other members of The Crossing. In the space below, write some of the ways you think of.
Which of these would you like to work on this coming week?
If you actually do this, do you think it will promote unity within the church? In what way?
2. Have you had an unaccepting attitude toward anyone at The Crossing? If so, why have you had this attitude?
Does God accept this person?
God is the One who can give us the power to love and accept one another without conditions. Take a moment right now to pray. If you have been unaccepting toward someone, confess it to God and ask Him to forgive you. Further, ask Him to fill you with His Spirit and to give you a loving and accepting attitude toward that person.
What can you do to accept that person and build him or her up?
